Total Office is proud to have achieved the world standard for environmental management: ISO14001:2004, which gives us the framework for continual improvement of our environmental performance.
Total Office is truly committed to managing and reducing any significant environmental impacts through its environmental management system, which is certified to the international standard ISO14001:2004 by a totally independent assessment body and carries the UKAS tick and crown.

Management of packaging waste
Packaging waste is inevitable in our business. However, our aim has been to reduce volumes and mitigate the impacts. Incoming waste cardboard and plastic pallet wrap are baled for recycling by approved waste recycling contractors to divert these materials from going into landfill.
Reducing energy and fuel consumption
We have been implementing programmes to help reduce our carbon output through initiatives that monitor our use of fuel through control of business travel and by effective fleet management.
The emissions and fuel consumption of the delivery fleet are monitored regularly. Delivery routes are tracked and analysed by computer to optimise routes and so reduce mileage and fuel use. All vehicles are serviced and maintained regularly in order to optimise performance.
Electricity and Gas consumption is monitored quarterly to continually seek ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Environmental and sustainable products
We continue to provide customers with an expanding choice of environmentally-preferred products. We have developed a range of products under the umbrella "Happy Planet", which are selected on the basis of meeting stringent environmental credentials and fair terms of trade.
Happy Planet products are either manufactured from 100% recycled material (identified with the recycled logo) or where, during the manufacturing process, every effort has been made to reduce the burden on the environment.
Fairtrade products, providing growers with a fair purchase price for their products - something we are keen to endorse - are also included at every opportunity.
We operate a toner and inkjet cartridge recycling scheme in conjunction with our third party partner to provide clients with a safe, simple and certain method of recycling empty toner and inkjet cartridges. Funds raised are donated to a range of environmental charities.
- Recycled products - 100% only
- Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited papers
- Ecover products - with the largest and most specialized ecological purification laboratory in the world, Ecover develop products which do not harm the natural environment

Total Office FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) Accreditation Total Office is one of relatively few printers in the UK to have been awarded with the stringent FSC "Chain of Custody" accreditation by the Forestry Stewardship Council - an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by major environmental charities including: WWF, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust.
As an FSC accredited printer, you can buy paper products from us with a clear conscience whenever you see the FSC logo. FSC labelled products are made with consideration for people, wildlife and the environment. It guarantees that wood used to make paper has come from trees that, once harvested, are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally.
The wood used to make the paper is tracked from the forest to the mill, to us and finally to you. Each stage of the supply chain is certified to make it clearly identifiable which paper is FSC certified and which is not.
For our clients, Total Office's FSC accreditation means that you can use the FSC logo on the work that we print for you. This can help support your own CSR policy and help demonstrate publicly that you are sourcing paper products with outstanding environmental and social credentials. By selecting only papers with the FSC mark, your organisation can be guaranteed that it will never inadvertently be at risk of using paper derived from dubious sources.
To gain FSC accreditation, the forest owner must use local workers; provide training and safety equipment and a decent salary. They will often also be asked to support the community in other ways, through the development of schools for example. Parts of the forest are protected entirely in order to protect rare animals and plants. The rights of indigenous people to use the forest are also protected including sacred sites being exempt from felling.
This initiative ensures better conditions for the forest and the people whose livelihoods depend on it and an assurance that future generations shall continue to enjoy the benefits of the forest.
